Aker BioMarine Expands Its Partnership and Becomes Main Sponsor of the Norwegian Board Association, Alongside the VI Foundation
Aker BioMarine is continuing and strengthening its collaboration with the Norwegian Board Association and the VI Foundation. Building on a period of focused and successful cooperation, the renewed partnership brings together elite sport, athlete health, and social responsibility in a long-term, holistic commitment.
Over the past two years, athletes from the national teams in snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing have incorporated Superba Krill into their daily routines. Insights from this period highlight how a consistent focus on health and recovery helps athletes stay resilient through demanding seasons, supports performance, and enables effective recovery in high-impact sports.
Reflecting on the scope and ambition of the renewed partnership, Aker BioMarine emphasizes that the collaboration extends far beyond traditional sponsorship.
“This partnership goes beyond financial support by contributing science-backed knowledge, nutritional products which support active athletes, and sustainable values to create real, long-term impact. We are proud and motivated to further extend the partnership and support these incredible athletes on their journey towards the world’s biggest sporting stages,” said Simon Seward, CEO of Aker BioMarine Human Health Ingredients.

Beyond the tangible benefits to athlete performance, the partnership is also grounded in a shared culture and way of thinking that resonates strongly with AkerBioMarine’s leadership.
“At a broader level, the collaboration is grounded in shared values and mindset,” says Aker BioMarine Group CEO Matts Johansen. “This partnership is as much about culture as it is about strategy. Board sports teach full commitment, resilience, and the importance of consistent effort over time. That mentality inspires us and shapes the way we work at Aker BioMarine.”
From the perspective of the Norwegian Board Association, the renewal itself represents an important milestone and validation of the work accomplished together so far.
“Entering into a partnership is always significant, but there is something special about renewing one. It is a clear mark of quality that the work we have done together has created value for all parties. That Aker BioMarine and the VI Foundation choose to continue their collaboration with the Norwegian Board Association is a strong vote of confidence. The renewal provides us with a long-term foundation and the flexibility to further develop both the partnership and board sports,” says Bijora Sardarian, Secretary General of the Norwegian Board Association.
“Board sports place extreme demands on both the body and the mind, and we clearly seethe value of working long-term and holistically with athlete health together with strong partners. With three snowboarders competing at the international level, it is especially important to build on what actually works,” says Thomas Harstad, Director of Marketing and Organization at the Norwegian Board Association.
Beyond performance and elite competition, the renewed agreement also emphasizes social impact. Together with the VI Foundation, the Norwegian Board Association will continue to develop initiatives that promote equal opportunities and inclusion— core values deeply embedded in board sports culture, from grassroots participation to the elite level.
“Sport is an important arena for mastery and inclusion. Youth sports create social belonging, develop movement skills, and provide experiences that last a lifetime. For those who want to see how far they can go, elite sport offers opportunities to test personal limits. The VI Foundation believes that both levels create arenas for people with disabilities. Through one sport, equal opportunities are created,” says Bjørnar Erikstad.
For Aker BioMarine, the partnership represents a long-term investment in both athletic development and sport as a force for positive change in society. The agreement is designed with a long-term perspective and will be activated through national team initiatives, joint communications, and socially focused projects. Together, the partners aim to further develop a collaboration that combines elite performance with strong social responsibility — ensuring athletes have the best possible conditions, both on and off the competitive stage.
