Why consumers want to know where their omega-3s come from

Omega-3 Phospholipids Superba traceability

Being able to trust that your omega-3s come from a sustainable, traceable source is crucial. At Aker BioMarine, we experience customers increasingly demanding information on what our krill products contain, how we conduct the harvesting, as well as the krill’s condition.

Sustainability

People are concerned with ocean sustainability. Last year, when the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) surveyed 16,000 seafood consumers, six in ten said they want to know their fish can be traced back to a known and trusted source.

According to the study carried out in 21 countries, sustainability rates higher than price and brand. In fact, 7 in 10 consumers agree that in order to save the oceans, we should only consume seafood from sustainable sources.

So, how can you transform this information into a business opportunity?

It is now possible to trace each capsule of Superba krill oil back to the exact location where it came from. Superba has just launched a new traceability tool, allowing your customers to track their krill omega-3s back to the location where they were harvested. We believe that being open and transparent will always bring more trust and build a closer relationship between brands and consumers.

100% Traceable

MSC’s traceability certification provides assurance to commercial buyers and consumers that MSC-certified products can be traced through the supply chain back to their origin. Superba is the first and only krill ingredient certified by MSC as being 100% traceable from sea to capsule.

With a few simple steps, you can easily integrate and customize the solution to be used on your own website:

1) Through the Certificate of Analysis (CoA), you can find the harvesting position on your krill oil batch.

2) Print the harvesting position on your product package and direct consumers to your website.

3) Integrate the traceability tool on your website.

Aker BioMarine embraced traceability back in 2010. Our custom built vessels process krill meal immediately after it arrives onboard, via our Eco-Harvesting technology. The fishing location is permanently recorded and now available to you.
